Location Description:
Chevelon Canyon Wildlife Area provides great opportunities to enjoy the cool mountain weather atop the Mogollon Rim, as well as possibilities to view wildlife, including mule deer, elk, turkey, falcons, hawks, bats and reptiles. The excellent stream, meadow and upland pine habitats attract many species of wildlife.
Records / History:
The property consists of five parcels, four of which (Dye, Duran, Tillman and Wolfe) were acquired in November 1961. The last parcel, Vincent Ranch, was obtained in May 1968. The parcels are located within the Chevelon Canyon grazing allotment of the U.S. Forest Service.

The management objective for Chevelon Canyon Wildlife Area is to maintain and enhance the wildlife habitat values of the properties and to provide wildlife recreational opportunities to the public. The Department also uses Vincent Ranch as an administrative site.
