Back in 1980, a simple Texan began a singular quest. He searched high and low seeking the best that a hamburger could be. He hungered for perfection in an imperfect world. All he found were warmed-over compromises between bland slices of bread. The burger culture had sullied an American institution.

Then in the still of a sultry summer night, a voice spoke to him, “Let them build it and they will come.” While he wasn’t exactly sure what the message meant—and there were no follow-up communications—the Texan did the only thing he knew to do.

Finding mediocrity unacceptable, he took a wrong and made it right. He took the frozen and made it fresh. He built his own burger and his own burger place right in the heart of San Antonio, Texas. And then because the man had a sense of humor, he named this place Fuddruckers.

Over twenty-five years later, we at Fuddruckers still hold true to our simple recipe and values: 100% USDA fresh ground beef, buns made from scratch every morning and throughout the day, and farm-fresh produce and all the other fabulous “fixins” that make your hamburger truly yours….because there are no shortcuts to perfection.

Today, Fuddruckers stands as a shrine to the Burger Arts—and the only place in the world where you can find the “World’s Greatest Hamburgers”. In fact, a CitySearch™ poll has called Fuddruckers “America’s Best” in cities across the nation.

Come see us, won’t you? What began more than 25 years ago as one Texan’s fresh idea has gone on to make the World a Burger Place.

Location Type: Arizona Lake

Location Description:
There is still some debate over whether Stoneman Lake is the remains of a volcanic crater or whether it fills a deep, collapsed sinkhole. The location of this naturally occurring body of water at the bottom of a large bowl-shaped valley and its nearly circular shape actually support both conclusions. The fact that faults in underlying rock layers provide the only way for water to leave the lake, adds weight to the sinkhole conclusion.

The lake's recreational value, on the other hand, is something that is easily agreed upon. This medium-sized body of water, surrounded by Gambel oak and ponderosa pine covered basalt slopes, provides good fishing for northern pike and yellow perch. It is also an excellent place to bird watch during the yearly waterfowl migrations, or all summer long for songbirds.

There is a gravel parking lot and boat ramp at a day use area on the lake's northern shore. Picnic tables at shaded sites nearby provide a good place to spend an afternoon.
